The Rotaract Club Sofia International had the honor, pleasure and opportunity once again to participate in the initiation of a good tradition. This time the participation of RACSI was together with Rotaract Club Sofia Sredets, SOFIMUN Foundation, National Union “Treasure the Bulgarian Heritage” and Association “Representative”. The project was called “Model National Assembly” or for clarity – Model National Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria. The project aimed to gather young perspective high-school pupils and freshman year university students. The active participation of students from all around Bulgaria made this event an unforgetable one. The partnership and generous support by Friedrich Ebert Foundation – Bulgaria, New Bulgarian University, Hotel Hemus and the National Association of the Municipalities in Republic of Bulgaria, gave the young people a couple of days in which they learnt one from each other, started interacting and now they continue together for a better future of their communities. The Sofia Municipality, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, and other institutions supported this initiative. Rotaract Club Sofia International helped by having Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev (Past-President and Secretary 2011-2012) and Mr. Andrey Stoychev (member) involved in the project.

Guests' e-mail group
Rotaract Club Sofia International has started a special web-based e-mail group for all of its guests that want to participate in the Club’s projects and programs, but do not have the ability to become members of the Club. The idea is proposed and implemented by Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev – the 2011-2012 Secretary of the Club and it aims to gather all the friends of RACSI in one centralized database in order the Club to be more successful in its activities. Anyone who is not a member of RACSI can add his/her e-mail address. You can find the e-mail subscribtion form on the right sidebar of the RACSI website ( http://rotaractsofiainternational.org ).

Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
The Rotaract Club Sofia International together with the sponsorship of SVETU Ltd., a company owned by the Past-President of Rotaract Club Sofia International – Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev, have provided a generous donation to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. More specifically the donation has been made to the Institute for Plant Physiology and Genetics by providing 2 important new-technology products – a fully customizable website (http://www.ifrg-bg.com/) and an intranet system for the work of the teams that produce the 2 specialized journals. The Institute for Plant Physiology and Genetics has been recognized as a structure in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with one of the best websites. Also the Institute for Plant Physiology and Genetics has started to work more on international projects and has gained more prestige from the ability to have up-to-date information posted and spread through the website it now has.

Thanks to the efforts and support of Rotaract Club Sofia International, the beautiful capital of Bulgaria, Sofia became an arena for world politics for 1 week during the 4th edition of the Sofia International Model United Nations (July 23-30 2011). The event was organized together with the SOFIMUN International Foundation and the UN branch offices in Bulgaria. The main sponsors of the event were the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (Bulgaria Office), Hotel Hemus and US Embassy in Sofia.

Moldova International Model United Nations
Members of Rotaract Club Sofia International helped for the organization of the premier edition of the Moldova International Model United Nations – a truly inspiring project for young specialists and students from all around the world who gathered for a couple of days in the beautiful city of Chisinau in order to enjoy in-depth workshops and debates together with current high-rank diplomats and professionals in the area of multicultural activities. The MDIMUN 2011 event was organized by the Creative Development Association with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Moldova, the United Nations in Moldova, the US Embassy in Moldova, IREX Moldova and the SOFIMUN International Foundation. As part of the SOFIMUN International Foundation and Rotaract Club Sofia International the event was conducted with the help of Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev (Secretary of Rotaract Club Sofia International for 2011-2012 and Secretary-General of the MDIMUN 2011 event) and by Mr. Andrey Stoychev (member of RACSI and Director for European Cooperation in the SOFIMUN Foundation).

The Rotaract Club Sofia International is glad to announce that it has reached a decision upon the laureattes of the prestige honorary award SLAVYANODEYATEL (English language translation – Slavic maker). The award and the honorary mention are for work and support for the enrichment and development of the Slavic culture and traditions. The awards are given on an annual basis for 1 non-Rotary member and 1 Rotary member. The initiative is proposed and founded by the 1st president of the Rotaract Club Sofia International – Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev.

The Rotaract Club Sofia International took part in an international project organized by Rotaract ClubHammam-lif, TUNISIA (District 9010) – “Rotaract Picture Peace”. The project aims to gather photos of Rotaract clubs around the world at a monument or sight that is typical for the state or city in which the Rotaract Club is situated. The Rotaract Club Sofia International chose to make a photo of the ancient city of Serdica – ruled by Thracians, governed by Romans, developed by Bulgarians. The city now lies underneath the modern city of Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria. The monumental city Serdica is getting more and more excavated and is open for visitors who wish to walk under modern Sofia around the ancient walls of this magnificent jewl of Europe’s history.

The Rotaract Club Sofia International took part in an international project organized by Rotaract Club Goztepe. The project aims to find the effects of ROTARY corporate personality and credibility on organizational commitment of ROTARACT Clubs. International Essay Contest for young people
The Rotaract Club Sofia International has joined a joint-project between Rotaract clubs from United Kingdom, France, Holland, Italy, Turkey, India and Romania. The project is initiated by our friends from Rotaract Club Bucharest Atheneum and it targets young people – students and graduates. The aim of the project is promoting the respect and appliance of the Rotarian/Rotaractian principles, friendship and good-understanding between young people on a daily basis.

The Rotaract Club Sofia International celebrated on March 11 its 2nd birthday with a small party as part of the Birthday party of the Family. The small unofficial birthday party was attended by 13 Rotaract members, 2 Interact members (@ ICAAS) and 3 Rotararians with 5 friends of theirs. The Rotaract Club Sofia International was greeted by the representatives of 2 other Rotaract clubs – Mr. Anton Peychev (Rotaract Club Sofia Vitosha Izgrev) and Mr. Ivan Kutzarov (Rotaract Club Sofia Sredets). They brought presents for the Clubs, part of the Family of Rotary Club Sofia International. The celebration was for 6th Birthday of Rotary Club Sofia International, 2 years of Rotaract Sofia International and 1 year for the 2 Interact clubs, part of the family. The party was at the new music-karaoke club VOG.

Longest M artenitza organizers and friends after a success of the project
The Rotaract Club Sofia International successfully implemented a joint project with the aim to make the longest martenitza. Martenitza is an old Bulgarian artefact that symbolizes health, luck and prosperity and is often made out of 2 ribbons interwinded together – white (pureness) and red (life). The tradition in Bulgaria is to give every person you know at least 1 bracelet Martenitza by notting it on the person’s hand. The Rotaract Club Sofia Internatinal together with its partners came up with the idea to try to knot together as many as possible martenitza in order to make the longest martenitza ever made. The initiative was supported by the Rotarian families and clubs in District 2482 and also it was under the high patronage of the District-Governor of D2482 for 2010-2011 – Mr. Krasimir Ganchev.
