7th Annual Bulgarian Folklore 2009 sponsored
Rotaract Club Sofia International supported and sponsored the 7th edition of the traditional Bulgarian Folkore competition-concert which was held on November 28 2009 in aula “Maxima” in the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia and was organized by the fellow friends from Rotaract Club Sofia, Rotaract Club Sofia Vitosha, Rotaract Club Sofia – Vitosha Izgrev and the Student Council of the University.
The idea of the concert is to have a couple of traditional Bulgarian music bands and dance formations to compete for the big awards that are provided by the sponsors of the competition-concert and also to provide a cultural atmosphere for elderly people from social homes and for children with special needs and for children from orphanages. This year there were around 30 people from a social home for elderly people present and around 40 children from orphanages. Also there were 5 groups of traditional Bulgarian dancers in the age range 5-18 years.
Rotaract Club Sofia International supported the initiative by providing help and assistance in the organization in the field of media spread of the information for the event prior to its beginning. The members of Rotaract Club Sofia International also agreed to make a sponsorship and thus the donation for Bulgarian Folklore 2009 was agreed to be 200.00 BGN.
We thank our fellow friend Mr. Delyan Kapitanov (Past-president of Rotaract Club Sofia) for his coming on the meeting our club on Nov 22 2009 during which we were able to find ways of helping for the successful event.
We do however want to encourage other organizations, people, public figures and institutions to help this initiative in it’s next editions.
