Rotary Club Sofia International, Rotaract Club Sofia International and Rotary Club Ihtiman (District 2482, Bulgaria) concluded a very successful 2nd ROTARY CHARITY GOLF OURNAMENT in the night hours of Saturday (October 31 2009) at Air Sofia Golf Club in Ihtiman.
The Charity Golf Day started at 10:00 am – with the Shotgun start and continued to around 21:00 the same day. Guest had the ability to be part of the day by handing in the sum of 40.00 lv. per person for charity purposes. The players however registered for the amount of 100 lv.

The members of Rotaract Club Sofia International made a donation of more than 70 wonderful books on Saturday (Oct 10 2009). The books were donated to 2 homes for elderly people in Sofia city – disricts “Darvenitsa” and “Gornia Banya”. The elderly people warmly welcomed the donation and had a pleasant chat on various issues with the Rotaractors.
The idea behind the project is that elderly people in safe homes do no have a wide variety of literature or access to libraries in a convenient way. This is why the young Rotarians decided to start this initiative. We hope that this project will be succeeded by many more of this kind.

In the beginning of October 2009 (1-4) the 9 Rotaract Clubs from Sofia coorganized the Rotaract European Meeting (REM) Sofia. The meeting aiming to contribute towards the participation of young people to charity and act of generousity was held in the beautiful city of Sofia – capital of the Republic of Bulgaria.
At REM Sofia 2009 particpated around 300 Rotaractors (200 foreign and 100 domestic Bulgarian). The program included plenary sessions on various topics of the work of Rotaract; traditional lunches at the “Pri Yafata” restaurant; national dinner at “Veseloto selo” restaurant; Sofia sight-seeing tours; shopping of souveniers and gifts; gala dinner at one of the residences of the Bulgarian government- “Boyana”. At residence “Boyana” the guest were greeted by Mr. Plamen Minev (DG 2482 2009-2010), Mr. Geno Andreev (DRR 2482 2009-2010) and Jordan Terziyski (Chairperson of the organizing committee of REM SOFIA 2009 and representative in ERIC of Bulgaria)

RAC Sofia International helped for the establishment of a “sensor room” for children with special educational needs.
Prehistory:
After completing and accepting the final report on the charitable activities made during the charter party of the club (May 8 2009) the members of Rotaract Club Sofia International decided to spread the sum they gathered. Thus an amount of 2000 BGN were donated for the construction of a sensor room in 59th Kindergarden in Mladost Municipality for the better education of children in need of special cares.

The Rotaract Club Sofia International welcomed a special guest on its 2nd meeting (Sep 28) for the year 2009/2010 – Mr. Boris Vardev – a close friend of the Rotary idea and fellowship principles and values.
Mr. Vardev attended the meeting after a special personal invitation by the President of the Club Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev. Mr. Vardev talked on the topic of “Leadership among people”. He elaborated on the issues of personal touch and stressed that the young people should be active and involved in many projects and initiatives.

Today the President of Rotaract Club Sofia International visited the Rotaract Club Cluj-Napoca in the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca in the Republic of Romania.
The visit of the President visit wasn’t planned but with no hesitation he accepted the invitation from the friend and member of RAC Cluj-Napoca Ms. Ioana Safirescu (Pasr-Vice-President of the Club).

Today, Sep 14 2009, Rotaract Club Sofia International had its opening session for the year 2009-/2010. The president for the year is the charter president due to the fact that he hasn’t served yet a full cycle in 1 Rotarian year.
The members of RAC Sofia International are 17 and no changes have been made to the Club’s structure or the assigned duties.

Closing gala dinner after 7 days of challenging debates and cultural enrichments
Thanks to the efforts and support of Rotaract Club Sofia International the beautiful capital of Bulgaria, Sofia became an arena for world politics for 1 week during the 2nd edition of the Sofia International Model United Nations (July 18-25 2009). The event was organized together with the SOFIMUN International Foundation and the UNDP and UN branch offices in Bulgaria.
